Our inboxes are usually full of requests to cover singer songwriters, rock or pop artists so it is always a treat to find something a little different and The Gold Tips fill a niche that we didn’t realise needed filled.
It has been a baptism of fire for the band as they opened for the mighty Chic & Nile Rodgers at a sold out Custom House Square gig last summer without any real material released. It seems to have served them well though as ‘That’s All I Need‘ combines the best elements of rock and soul over a short runtime of just over two and a half minutes.
Eamonn McNamee’s vocals smoothly guide us through proceedings while the female backing singers give a big old gospel feel to proceedings. In truth, you’d be struggle not to come away without at least tapping your feet or feeling uplifted by the experience.
‘That’s All I Need’ serves as the perfect appetiser for the band’s debut album, Parade which is due for release next month. If live events are more your thing, you can catch them at the Deer’s Head in Belfast for their album launch on 11th February.
