There have been plenty of songs named after famous musicians over the years, with Weezer’s ‘Buddy Holly’ and The Replacements’ ‘Alex Chilton’ being the pick of the bunch (let’s be honest though, who could forget Duck Sauce’s Barbra Streisand?). Adding to that is Paris based Travis Gilbert AKA Travis Is A Tourist, whose new single namedrops Fleetwood Mac songstress ‘Stevie Nicks’.
The track is a glimmering piece of modern pop that seems to take some influence from Nick’s group sun-kissed early 80s output with it’s jangling soft-rock guitar. It’s easy enough to miss the emotional turmoil at the heart of the song’s lyrics (just listen to the chorus: ‘Carry me home /So I don’t go to sleep alone /Cuz these days I’m barely holding onto my bones’), and many will be so caught up in the pure pop of the melody that they won’t care.
