Aaron Everything & Jack Bashful- Solitaire

Aaron Everything & Jack Bashful Solitaire

Aaron Everything spills his heart on Solitaire with a set of lovesick tunes. Donegal singer and rapper Aaron Everything and Jack Bashful join forces for a new EP where Bashful dons his producer cap, allowing Everything to deliver his unique brand of emo rap.

Rest Easy is the opener and standout track with a muted bed of keyboard notes courtesy of Bashful which allow Everything to deliver his wild and off-beat singing which brings the track to life. Layers of vocals and harmonies in the back of the mix making the song feel anthemic and blissful at times. The song itself-an expression of the feeling of being in love with Everything chanting “I can feel the raaaayyys” on the hook”. Bashful’s smooth delivery fits the track perfectly as he slides in effortlessly.

The next track (Why would I leave?) deals with an interesting theme lyrically, detailing the difficulty of opening up to someone in a new relationship and includes a lush feature from Piper King. However, the chorus lets the song down with a repetitive hook which is more annoying than catchy.

The EP ends with a decent tune in LMK which features doting lyrics like “You’re sweeter than some honeycomb” and “You’re the bunny in the burrow”. A commitment to his significant other that he wants her to confide in him if she needs him. In this song the emo-rap influences are front and centre with Everything’s vocal runs akin to Juice Wrld at times. Rapper ADYLLES steals the show on this track with the best guest verse on the EP with lines like “Thoughts they pass/Runnin fast/Trippin’ on a lace in my head/Always finish last”.

Solitaire is a short but mostly enjoyable listen and showcases Aaron Everything who brings a unique sound and raw ability as a songwriter. Jack Bashful continues to flex his newly acquired production chops and drop a verse when needed.
