After another busy twelve months we are less than a few days away from the grand celebration that is the Northern Ireland Music Prize. 2023 was another exceptional year for music from these shores and the Ulster Hall will be a fitting place to celebrate that.
The evening will see winners announced across the categories of Album, Single, Live Act and Video of the year. We’ve recapped the shortlists below but the judges will have some difficult decisions to make.
There will also be two special presentations on the night. First up will be the Legend Award to Paul Brady by IMRO in recognition of his career as one of Ireland’s greatest artists of the last 50 years. Followed by a Joe Cassidy Chrysalis presentation and announcement of the recipient of a bursary set up by Joe’s family and friends, some of whom are travelling from Chicago and its celebrated venue the Metro especially for the occasion.
Aside from lots of talks and presentations, attendees will be treated to live performances from some of the featured artists and last years winners. Paul Brady will play a short set following his legend award presentation, while we’ll also be in line to see The Florentinas, Chalk, Ferna, Problem Patterns, Winnie Ama and Conor Mallon.
