Local Indie/Pop act Don’t Shoot have been announced the winners of Glasgow’s Soundwave music competition.
The final took place on 10th January 2015 at the O2 ABC in Glasgow, where 12 finalists played to a sold out crowd. During the final, the winner was decided by 3 music industry judges and by a public text vote.
Soundwave competition is the largest music competition in Northern England and Scotland with over 1000 acts entering the competition.
Don’t Shoot was the only entry from Northern Ireland.
The 5 piece won the opportunity to perform at a huge show on the main stage at the Prestigious O2 Academy Venues, a full days recording package release in a local recording studio, the opportunity to showcase their talent and music to music industry insiders, live slots to play on radio and to be interviewed on air, magazine and press coverage, high quality fully mastered CD package and a live photo shoot
The 5 piece band is made up of Jonny Kirwan (Vocals & guitar), Anna Doody (Synth & Vocals), Fearghal McMahon (Guitar), Corrie Mc Cusker (Bass) and Emmett Cleary (Drums), all from in and around the Omagh area and work between Northern Ireland and Glasgow. The band are influenced by a artists such as Kings of Leon, The Vaccines, The Strokes, Arcade Fire and Frightened Rabbit with a heavy dollop of The Killers, Biffy Clyro and Foo Fighters.
