The Limelight Celebrates First Anniversary of Opening

The Limelight Celebrates First Anniversary of Opening

The Limelight is somewhere many of us have frequented for more years than we’d rather let on- whether you’re a SHAG die-hard or a Circus at the Limelight freak, it’s nice to see how much it has blossomed after reopening as The Limelight Complex this time last year.

After falling on hard times, the minds behind Shine Productions took over what was Spring and Airbrake, Katy Daly’s and The Limelight, providing a brand new take in time for the academic year. The complex follows the ‘academy’ style – like the O2 – with the larger Limelight 1, Katy’s Bar and the Limelight 2.

Since reopening, we’ve seen the launch of new and now notorious nights- AAA Saturdays, Circus, and regular local band nights, as well as the acquisition of Thursday staple Sketchy with a fresh, Cheshire cat smiling face and Club 137, a popular night with students.

Over the past year they’ve welcomed everyone from Labrinth, Two Door Cinema Club, Slayer, Boys Noize, Steve Aoki, Disclosure and Eels in Limelight 1, to Peace, Funeral for a Friend and We are Scientists in the more intimate Limelight 2. One look at their schedule for the next couple of months promises another exciting year, with Kodaline, City and Colour, Primal Scream and many more set to play.

Here’s to many more years guys!
