In the first of another new feature – we’ll be doing our best to convince bands to allow us to give away one of their songs (with a heavy bias on rare songs, demos, live songs, outtakes, etc) for the small price of a tweet. You’ll instantly receive the download as soon as you tweet about the track (it’s all automatic, so no work needed on your part!) – How cool!
As usual with these new features – i usually use myself as a guinea pig, and this will be no different!

[highlighter color=”red”]About[/highlighter] : In 2009, i was writing some music for a local publishing label called White Mountain down in Maghera. I was making the trek from derry to maghera often, as the studio (owned by Peter Fleming) was based there and that’s where all the recording took place. Usually the session would revolve around myself and peter working on a track together, performing different instruments and co-producing – but when he had commitments one weekend, he asked if i’d like to come down alone and record myself that weekend – and that sounded right up my street. I went down with the initial task of finishing off a few songs that we had made a start on (Save me & Postcodes), but i finished these quite quickly, and not wanting to waste any time in the studio… i decided to write and record something there and then. I don’t really know where the song came out of – the lyrics were very quickly written first, and the music came second (which is unusual for me). It’s a very simple song musically, but i’m very content with how the lead vocal ended up as it’s quite hooky and showcases a good range of technique – although it is totally over-autotuned – i’ll admit it! I have played this ‘electric’ with friends over the years and it always holds up well – it’ll make a great rock song when i finally get around to recording it proper!
