Those Ghosts delivered their second EP (Delays) to us back in November 2014 but apart from a handful of live appearances, mainly in their hometown, the Strabane outfit have been rather quiet. Bassist Danny McKay has moved on to pastures new but rather than disappearing completely, the band have unveiled Those Ghosts 2.0.
David McGaughey of fellow Strabane outfit Tokyo Empire has joined and the band are back with a brand new single, ‘Something I Said‘. Unsurprisingly the lads from Strabane have produced another guitar driven, alt-rock release worthy of joining their already brimming back catalogue of stadium anthems. Check out the performance video for the energetic new single below.
“Traditionally when writing we’d have some semblance of the music written and the vocal melody and lyrics would follow after. ‘Something I said’ was something different though in that the lyrics preceded any of the music and helped set the tone for the overall track. The song itself is about someone standing up for themselves against slanderous folks, who in turn take offence to be challenged…”Was it something I said?” Given the nature of the lyrics we knew this would have to be fast, punchy and aggressive. After bringing the guitar riff to practice the track quickly started to take shape. After some fine-tuning and copious amounts of rehearsal we ended up with the finished product we’ve just recorded…and we’re pretty delighted with it!”
