Named after a group of Native Americans, Hunkpapa are a tribe of four Armagh men who have set about making a considerable mark in Belfast and beyond. The four-piece have been around since 2016 but it’s within the last year that they have come into their own. The fantastically named ‘Burlesque Warriors’ is the latest in their stream of anthems.
Between music videos, live shows and a string of well received tracks, Hunkpapa could be one of the most in-form bands in NI, born out of other Armagh acts including the late HOW, Castle Street and our 2017 Kickstart winners, and thankfully still active BRØR. Their status has been further underlined by ‘Burlesque Warriors’. Peppered with rolling, almost military sounding drums and fast and loose guitar riffs the song is filled with Hunkpapa’s best traits. Anthemic shouts and hooks seem ready made for their much heralded live show. ‘Burlesque Warriors’ sees Hunkpapa further back up their eclectic image and bravado with genuinely great tracks.
The band have released the track ahead of a headline set at Belfast’s Limelight 2 on this Thursday 15th March.
