Ahead of dates in Derry and Belfast later this week, idiosyncratic four-piece Invaderband have released a new single. ‘Cheese Slices‘ is the third single from last year’s second album Peter Gabriel.
Bright guitar lines and an indie flourish opens proceedings before Mancunian frontman Adam Leonard gets straight to cynicism. ‘Cheese Slices’ takes aim at an unnamed band, with call outs against the band’s arrogance, tedious interviews and more. There’s a refreshing humour and lack of tact in Leonard’s explicit insults the track’s reprise compares the band to the tedium of cheese slices, though he concedes “I actually quite like cheese “.
‘Cheese Slices’ continues the Invaderband’s garage rock forays into varied, eccentric subject matter and John Peel devotion. Invaderband play McHughs, Belfast this Friday 17th followed by Bennigans, Derry on Saturday 18th.
