One-quarter of the innovative trad/folk group Lonesome George, Belfast musicians and songwriter Myles McCormack is no stranger to world-building in his music. An accomplished player and underrated songwriter, his newest track ‘By Demons‘ sees McCormack at his dark and cinematic best.
With Elliot Smith style finger picking and vocals eerily reminiscent of early Ciaran Lavery, all tense whispers and breathlessly anxious, don’t be mistaken by the lo-fi nature of ‘By Demons.’ Its a relentless track with a slow building energy that is magnetic as it is deep.
With soundscaping rumblings and gorgeous instrumentation, ‘By Demons’ has the physical presences of a shootout at high noon – you couldn’t bring yourself to turn away even if you wanted to. Its dark magnetism, coupled with its uptempo pace and a gracious amount of ill-ease, makes this one of McCormack’s best tracks to date.
