The first new material from the band in almost a year, Lost Avenue’s single release ‘Killing Time‘ shows the band haven’t lost touch with the incessant, furious energy that put them on the radar.
Teased since early May, the video release accompanying the single takes the classic pretty-girl- in-a-field format and inter-cuts it with live footage of the band. Lurid colour effects and unnerving lens warps make for striking visual imagery in itself, while the central image of a young woman dressed in white dancing in a field calls to mind 70’s folk horror.
Musically, the three-piece from Derry’s latest release is nothing short of a strong testament to their Modern Baseball-meets- Basement melodic sensibilities and technical skill. Dualta Lewington coats a muscular bassline over Michael Brown’s rapid-fire rhythms, while Dylan Bradley brings the crunch with a biting lead guitar line and a distinctive vocal fry that recalls Craig Owens of D.R.U.G.S. Impressive musicianship that saw the single’s early airplay from Radio 1’s Phil Taggart and Radio Foyle’s Stephen McCauley.
The alt rock/punk trio’s Killing Time/Sudden Death double A-side is set for its official release on June 24th , the same day you can catch their live hometown performance at Sandino’s Bar in Derry.
