Orby Chase have been doing their best to pack as much into 2016 as they possibly can. The band only launched themselves back in April, with a debut EP launch a few months later also marking their first show. The band have played a string of venues around Belfast from the Empire to Belfast City Hall. Now, November marks their first video release with ‘Kicks from You’.
Taken from their ‘Wolf by the Ears’ EP, ‘Kicks from You’ showcases the band’s alt rock sound to a tee. From a tremolo picked and reverb drenched guitar opening the track, it’s three minutes of infectious catchy indie rock. Frontman Josh Dodge’s vocals are confident, backed by the band for a chorus of “I get my kicks from you”. From Wright’s varied guitar playing, McQuillan’s bass riffs and Buchanan’s drummng, everything is held together tightly, not to mention well produced by Start Together’s Rocky O’Reilly.
The video, produced by Ryan Orr, sees the band looking a little chilly walking through a Belfast industrial estate, interlayed with footage from their EP launch back in June.
‘Kicks from You’ is modern rock delivered with plenty of confidence and swagger.
