Thom Southern returns with his second single ‘Perfect Someone’ after opting to go solo. His previous ventures alongside his sister Lucy Gaffney in MMODE and Southern were typically sweeping indie anthems delivered with a bluesy swagger. This time out Thom delivers something a little different.
Rather than the straight up indie of old, ‘Perfect Someone’ provides a hazy dream infused soundscape that delves well into the realms of shoegaze. Yet the pop sensibilities the Belfast native is known for are never far away and by the end of the song the listener is left day musing in an air of sweet nostalgia.
