Week in, week out, a myriad of artists gather to showcase their talents in many of the bars and venues that Belfast has to offer. ‘Oh look, another hipster with a guitar’, ‘Another indie band…’ I hear you. You’re bored of the same old thing, that’s not to say those guys aren’t talented, they’re probably great at what they do but you want rock, the type of music that’s ingrained in Belfast’s history – Say hello to Goodbye Nola.
A four piece rock band from Belfast, Goodbye Nola are relatively new to the local gigging scene having only been together for the past year, but don’t be put off, there’s nothing amateur about their music, they’ve even gained a fan in Chuck Ragan!
Their 3 track self titled EP hit Soundcloud earlier this year and gives a glimpse into what these guys are about. 14 minutes of pure energy; fast paced drums, dynamic riffs and raspy vocals right through. ‘Testified’ is an impressive opener for any debut, with heavy percussion and punchy riffs (reminiscent of The Strokes) throughout. On ‘Fever’ the drummer continues to work up a sweat with his energetic performance, carrying what can only be described another solid track. The pace slows down on closing track ‘Bring It On‘, gravelly vocals, swift riffs and that familiar stomping drumbeat make this track one to remember. Alternative Rock with American vibes and an overall infectious debut. Goodbye Nola are certainly one to watch out for over the upcoming months.
