Hailing from Ballymoney rock and roll quartet The Red Velvetines release their second E.P to date ‘Black’. Over the 3 tracks we listeners are taken on a musical journey through the many influences of the Red Velvetines including Blues, good old fashioned rock and roll complied with a lot of influence from none other than The Rolling Stone’s. Have your ears prepared for heavy drums, rocky riffs and badass bass-lines accompanied by Claire’s sultry vocals.
The opener ‘Get down’ begins with an interesting bass-line soon joined by metal style guitar riffs and heavy drumbeats everything you would want to hear from any great rock song then joined by the slight element of surprise when Claire’s bluesy tone vocal kicks in. ‘Tell me Sister ’an upbeat melodic rock song that will soon get you throwing a few shapes in the name of Rock n’ Roll, the perfect sing-a-long rock song.
The EP comes to an end with a blues style tale told beautifully through Claire’s vocals though the lyrics are disappointingly very typical to any old fashioned blues song the guys have pulled it off as it works extremely well with the bluesy bass lines and heavy drumbeats all the while Marks epic guitar riff is perfect for the untro and an amazing way to end the EP.
