The Virginmarys – King of Conflict

The_Virginmarys_-_King_Of_Conflict

Lost some faith in the music industry recently? That would be the impression given, with the recent demise of our favourite record stores. Music lovers have been left wondering if it is worth actually buying music anymore with the lack of originality. They can wonder no more The VirginMarys have released their debut album King of Conflict guaranteed to restore all you music lover’s faith in the industry.

If you like your Rock n’ Roll infused with trashing drumbeats, ballsy bass-lines, a melodic chorus sang with raspy aggressive vocals and of course rocking guitar riffs that rival that of guitar god Slash then this is the album your ears are crying out to hear. It’s very clear to hear why the Macclesfield trio have been in high demand to support bands and artists such as Slash, Feeder and Ash over the last few years.

From the opener ‘Dead man’s shoes’ and ‘Portrait of red’ right through to new single ‘Dressed to Kill’ you will most certainly want to crank the volume up to a setting that may find the neighbours complaining as you throw yourself around your room wishing you were in a sweaty, beer fuelled mosh pit. ‘My little girl’ is a very bluesy rock song, ‘Ends don’t mend’ takes us to a much darker place than other songs on the album without losing the unique sound The VirginMarys have created and stamped all over this stupendous album.

This album is so packed full of adrenaline that for 12 whole tracks it doesn’t come up for air, It’s a huge surprise to hear track 13, the hidden track ‘Stripped’ a mellow, almost country inspired rock song with passionate lyrics that is indeed the perfect end to an album from a band that can only be described as the missing puzzle piece the rock industry has been searching for.
