There are often complaints that coverage of the music scene in Northern Ireland is very Belfast centric. We know that there’s plenty happening around the whole country and are pleased to shine a light on the Bangor Born & Bred Festival.
Bangor has a rich tradition of producing wonderful talent and we can count off the likes of Snow Patrol, Two Door Cinema Club & Foy Vance as true success stories. To shine a light on the emerging talent coming from the city, the Hop House bar are hosting a weekend festival of music.
Bangor Born & Bred Festival will take place over the weekend of 7-9th April 2023.
Friday will feature original sets from Karl Beare & Barry Locke followed by local trad outfit Cap On The Wall and then DJ Reece Rodgers kicking the weekend off.
Saturday will see a sets from Dolbro Dan, Taylor Lally & Mark Hegan followed by DJ Ian Basile. Upstairs there’ll be a rock night headlined by Aeons with Von Loop and Foreign Mornings setting the stage rounding out a quality local line-up.
While Sunday will begin with sets of originals from Amanda Agnew and Mike Donaghy and closes out with a set from the Two Phils, Phil McKee and Philip McCarroll, with the latter beginning with a 30 minute solo.
