The streets and venues of Derry will be packed with musicians and fans alike as Music City returns for its fourth year. The festival of music will run from Monday 4th July – Sunday 10th July 2016 and feature a host of free and ticketed events that will show off some of the best musical talent Ireland has to offer.
The opening event will be a special performance from Villagers with local lads PORTS supporting. You would also be mad to miss out on Girls Names, Strength and the Gatefolds or the perfect combination of SOAK and Saint Sister in the Glassworks. For those interested in a night of frenetic rock, you’d be hard pushed to look past the Guildhall show featuring The Strypes, The Bonnevilles, exmagician and the Wood Burning Savages.
The free performances through out the weekend feature the likes of Silences, Jessica Doherty, Beauty Sleep and Our Krypton Son to name a few. There is also something for aspiring musicians in the form of a singer songwriter competition in Bennigans bar with £500 in prizes or alternatively there is a busking competition in the city centre with a prize fund of £1,500.
The full programme of events for Music City 2016 is available on their official website. Tickets for the paid events are available via WeGotTickets.
