You might have missed it amongst the doom and gloom that the wonderful team at Open House have successfully taken ownership of the old Court House on Bangor seafront. While they may not be ready to welcome audiences into the building for live events any time soon, the team are keen to give the wider community a glimpse into what will be a stunning future venue in the form of the Court House Sessions.
In association with the Arts Council NI, we will be able to enjoy eleven recorded performances from artists based in the Bangor area. The Court House Sessions performances will be released from Friday 26th February via the Open House Youtube channel. Musically we are in for a treat with the sumptuous Darkling Air, the highly tipped Florentinas and seasoned veterans King Cedar and Ken Haddock.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to show people the interior of the Court House as it stands right now, before the full restoration project begins in April,” says Open House director, Kieran Gilmore. “When planning the project, we felt it was fitting to celebrate the wealth of talent we have on our own doorstep, something we haven’t been able to do for a while! We weren’t able to involve all our local artists, but believe the line-up reflects a strong cross-section of established and emerging musicians and writers. And we look forward to welcoming many more artists and performers to the Court House once the renovation work is completed, and to the festival in general just as soon as we can safely do so.”
