One of the many joys of attending Irish music festivals is the simplicity of travel. You jump in a car/van/caravan /bus and no more than a couple of hours later and you’re ready to start putting those wellies to good use!
Well for these two festivals travel is a bit different. Both taking place on the picturesque Arranmore Island off the coast of Co. Donegal, a short trip on a ferry is required before you can get in on the action. And boy is there some tasty line-ups to entice you onto a sea-sailing vessel.
AranMojo Festival ▶ August 16 & 17
Hosted by Donegal four-piece Mojo GoGo, AranMojo returns for its second year on the island. Once again the bill features some top talent from the north-west along with a host of up and coming Irish acts. (full line-up on poster below)
Numbers are limited to only 200 tickets, so if you want to book your place at Mojo GoGo’s summer bash (for a steal at €22.50) then we advise you step to-it.

Swell Festival ▶ July 11, 12 & 13
Newcomers to the festival landscape, Swell Festival aims to make its mark this summer with a diverse line-up set against breathtaking scenery. Few details are know at this stage, however a video has surfaced which sheds some light on who and what to expect at the July weekender.
Now that you’ve watched that a few times, (it is ‘mighty craic’) Swell looks set to be a weekend of top notch local music. Duke Special, The Emerald Armada, Farriers, In Their Thousands, The Wood Burning Savages, A Northern Light & Gaze Is Ghost are just a handful of the acts set to make their bow on the island.
