It is a poignant moment in Mama Kaz’s career. This is the last song she’ll do with the Mama Kaz Band as she goes solo, under her new stagename of Kaz Hawkins, in her attempt to seriously break into the singer-songwriter market. This is a fitting final act by one of our finest local attractions. It has a Fleetwood Mac feel with laid-back rhythm guitar with blues licks interspersed. Where it differs from Fleetwood Mac is Kaz’s vocals which could not be more different from Ms Nicks. Where Nicks is high and ethereal, Kaz is bluesy and strong.
The song is officially launched tonight at the Black Box in Belfast as the Mama Kaz Band play their final gig, backed up by the also excellent Stormtree among others (door tax £5). All proceeds go to Cancer Focus.
