Silent Noise Parade – ‘Fears’

Silent Noise Parade – ‘Fears’

Limerick 5 piece, Silent Noise Parade return with the follow-up single to ‘Still the Gardens Grow’, a single I reviewed in glowing terms last year. Silent Noise Parade is a band that has an air of self-confidence and, given the quality of the videos for both ‘Still the Gardens Grow’ and now ‘Fears’, a band that puts its money where its mouth is. With one album already released last year and another in the pipeline for this, Silent Noise Parade clearly doesn’t intend to let the grass grow under its feet.

Aside from the music itself, what I admire about the band is that it does not favour quantity over quality. There is no rush to release every track, no drop in standard when it does – with quality writing, production and visuals. It shows a real maturity and clarity of thought.

‘Fears’ shows a continuity from ‘Still the Gardens..’, exhibiting that knack of melding Indie rock with keyboards/sequencing. It is sparse vocally at times and yet with a depth and texture to the sound that shows it is a band that doesn’t feel it has to ‘kitchen sink’ every song. I like that about them. While never reaching the anthemic heights of Lightbody and Co at their stadium-filling best, there is no doubt Silent Noise Parade is a talented bunch of guys. Perhaps all that is missing now is something in a different tempo and/or feel, just to show it isn’t a one trick pony. I’ll be listening out for the album to see if the band can come up with that.

Until then, give ‘Fears’ a listen
