Rob’s Gig Guide: 8th April – 14th April 2013

Without a doubt one of the biggest weeks of the summer with a multitude of festivals including Belsonic, Tennent’s Vital, Stendhal and various Open House Gigs all taking place over this short stretch. Plus Eminem at Slane and Slayer returning to the Limelight for the second time this year. Who says the summer is quiet?

Midlake – The Windsor, Bangor – Thursday 15th August 2013
American indie band Midlake have a certain pedigree that will ensure they have a big draw in Bangor. Gorgeous melodies and soundscapes will be aplenty and if not for other commitments I would be there myself.

Tickets are £16.50 in advance direct from Open House Festival or else £20 on the door

David C Clements – The Goat’s Toe, Bangor – Friday 16th August 2013
An artist I continually rant and rave about, David C Clements has the ability to craft magical music. It doesn’t even matter whether he plays solo or as part of a band the songs still shine and this is testament to him. Plus ‘Hurricane’ is still one of the best local releases in recent years.

Gama Bomb – The Empire – Saturday 17th August 2013
The other shows this week have been fairly soft and folky at heart but Gama Bomb’s show at the Empire will be anything but. Ireland’s premier speed thrash band have an impressive world wide following and to celebrate the release of new album ‘The Terror Tapes’ it is great to see them return home.

Tickets are £12 and are available directly from The Empire
