The wait for the debut full length from Wynona Bleach has been a little longer than we’d like but we are on the home straight. Moonsoake won’t be with us until 2021, but to whet our appetite, the band are unleashing the first single ‘Glimmer’ into the world.
The video is a completely DIY effort, filmed and edited for an impressive £6 over the course of one weekend. in a friend’s forest. The track was produced by Bill Ryder-Jones (The Coral) and is as slick as you would expect.
“Glimmer was an instrumental with no lyrics right up until we had left for Portugal (to record the debut album). When we were at full swing as a music making machine, Jonny left the main studio and spent the day on the roof of the house we stayed in and wrote the lyrics there in a day. We recorded the vocals that evening, with group gang vocals in the warehouse. It’s a song about self-manipulation and feeling uneasy in your own brain.”
Long time followers of the band will instantly recognise the swaggering alt rock on offer. While possibly not as hard hitting as previous efforts, the fluttering guitars and sweetness of Melyssa Shannon’s vocals leave a lasting impression.
If you haven’t already you can still pre-order Moonsoake via their IndieGoGo crowdfunding page.
