Yearning Curve’s seductive fusion of jazz and pop makes for an enticing debut EP. ‘Blonde on the Inside’ features four charming original tunes, the stand-out track being record opener and lead single ‘Lean Lightly’, featuring the amusing opening lines; ‘Even Lady Gaga sometimes feels like a loser/ Wakes up in her outfit from the night before.’ Watch out for the electric guitar solo on this track, which has already enjoyed success at the top of the iTunes jazz charts.
The record progresses through an impressive spectrum of jazz, pop, and electronica. Closing track ‘HD3DLED’ is a world away from what has come before, and makes for an uncomfortable close to what has been an impressive, if not slightly forgettable, debut.
