One of my “goals” for 2014 was to put on a live gig and this Thursday, I’m doing just that. It has been a long process with quite a bit more work involved than I naively imagined. In that respect I wanted to pay a small tribute to the local promoters, establishments and bands who regularly put on live music for our enjoyment. It can be a hard task trying to balance the books, promote the show & secure quality acts, especially if you have a full time job as well. Thank you for bringing us great live music every week, long may it continue. On that note I hope to see you all down supporting our five finalists in our Kickstart 2014 showcase this Thursday. Support local music!
Getting to Know: Robyn G Shiels – Oh Yeah Centre, Belfast – Wednesday 12th March 2014
The Oh Yeah Music Centre’s Getting to Know series returns with an up close and personal look at the enigmatic Robyn G Shiels. His ethos is summed up in “decent tunes for decent folk” although the night’s Q&A session should be a real insight into those dark lyrical thought processes that his music is known for.

Kickstart 2014 – Speakeasy, Belfast – Thursday 13th March 2014
Our first ever live gig is the final of the 2014 Kickstart competition, hosted in association with Queen’s Radio and RADAR. Our five finalists; Car Chase City, EQ1NIX, Freak’s, In An Instant & Runabay will play a set each before we announce the overall winner of our competition. Distillation #08 – Oh Yeah Centre, Belfast – Friday 14th March 2014
Another series of live music returns at the Oh Yeah Music Centre. This time Distillation is back with a sizzling line-up. Headlined by local favourites Axis Of, ear plugs will definitely be required. Support comes in the form of electro pop from TVVINS and Affleck.
