Reminiscent of melancholic indie luminaries Phoebe Bridgers and Adrienne Lenker, Martha Greers’ euphonious tracks feature sympathetic lyrics of nostalgia and adoration with cozy riffs tied together with undeniably catchy melodies. Don’t miss out on her Bangor hometown show, bound to impress.
White lighter and Unstuck – Bennigans, Derry – 16th September 2023
If you’re due a head thrashing,booming gig, this one’s for you. Punky alt-rock noise band ‘White lighter’ make their prodigal Derry return alongside thriving, electrifying indie-rock Wexford based trio ‘Unstuck’.
Cairo Station – McHughs Bar, Belfast – 21st September 2023
The noticeable influx of indie-rock sensations in Belfast has been astonishing, a scene with non-stop gigs, the crowds soaking in the vibrant beats and melodies every time. Two of my personal favourites are set to play Mchughes, and they are no exception. Make sure to catch Cairo station and the thing is.
Lonesome George – Empire, Belfast – 22nd September 2023
DIY 5-piece Lonesome george incorporate social and political commentary with a trad inspired sound, tied together with intricate flute and ingenious, rhythmical strings, a truly unique project.
Foreign Mornings – Oh Yeah Music Centre, Belfast – 23rd September 2023
Described as ‘Rock n roll rooted in the 90s’, Grungey and impassioned 5 piece Foreign mornings are set to play their upcoming debut album in full. A glimpse into what’s coming, their 2023 EP ‘4am’ takes the listener on a journey of retro nostalgia, a culmination of iconic influences such as Pixies and Foo fighters, paired with relevant lyricism of a modern twist.
Leo Miyagee with Belfast Groove Collective – Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast – 23rd September 2023
The debut of ‘stripped down at the crescent’, a series of intimate acoustic gigs ‘bringing songs back to that early stage of life’, combining Northern Ireland’s dexterous talents. Leo Miyagee is joined by his band, a force of true passion and energy when performing together. Miyagee’s soulful flow of insightful lyrics accompanied with captivating beats creates a truly transformative performance.
