Always a privilege to discover heaps of new and exciting talent through our Kickstart competition each year. 2023 was no different and there were some real hidden gems in the pile to whet our appetite.
We were inundated with applications again this year and our panel had a tough job narrowing it down to a longlist of twenty. We are pleased that the longlisted artists for 2023 are:
- Alfie Norma
- Brother Vice
- Cora Harkin
- Garrett Laurie
- Lauren Martin
- Makeshift Art Bar
- Moon Boot
- Moon Landing
- Niall McDowell
- Polar Bolero
- Robyn Maddox
- The Cornerstones
- The Marra
- The Thing Is…
Over the next two weeks, an external panel of people who work in the music industry will review and listen to the longlisted applicants. They will vote for their preferred artist(s) and those with the most votes will make it through to the final shortlist.
In previous years the panel has included music journalists, promoters, recording engineers among others. This year the panel includes Nikki MacRae, Stevie Lennox, Charlene Hegarty, Edwin Mc Fee, Taylor Johnson, Francesca O’Connor & Aine Cronin-McCartney.
