We pride ourselves on bringing you the freshest music that our little corner of the world produces and we have yet another debut for you. Yet again we turn our attention to a thriving musical hub in the North West to bring you the premiere of ‘Wake You Up‘, the new single from The Valideers.
Strabane is home to acts of all types including Freak’s and Lauren Bird but on Wake You Up, there’s a striking kinship to their fellow alt rock contemporaries Those Ghosts and White Male Actors. The sparkling single is most notable for the strong, self assured vocals of front man Michael Connolly. The clean alt rock of the verses builds in the chorus and gives way to a tasty guitar solo in the bridge. There’s more than enough evidence here to suggest that The Valideers can stand on their own and set themselves apart.
“With ‘Wake You Up’ being our debut single it has created a lot of excitement within the band. Ever since we got the song back from Peter Doherty, who recorded for us, we just wanted to put it up online straight away! So we are glad now that the music video is also done and we can finally release the single. The meaning of ‘Wake You Up’ is basically being by someone’s side when they are dealing with something or going through a hard time and helping to get them back on their feet. Overall, the song was written within a day so we are really happy with how far it has come in a short space of time.”
