Northern Ireland’s go-to party pop band The Wonder Villains is gearing up for the release of their first album. The Derry band’s debut ‘Rocky’ is set for release on 23rd June.
The album’s 12 tracks are available to preview on iTunes ahead of its release and can be pre-ordered now. Fans of the band will know exactly what to expect; fun, danceable music with eclectic lyrics (just listen to ‘Zola’, with a chorus dedicated to Chelsea’s little Italian).
Fresh from playing The Great Escape in Brighton the band have also recently announced exciting plans for an album launch. Saturday 21st June will see the band play not one, but two shows in Belfast to release their album in considerable style. First up The Wonder Villains will play an all-ages show on the roof top of Belfast’s Oh Yeah Centre in the afternoon. With only 40 tickets available the show was always going to be exclusive and sadly tickets sold out within a day.
Fortunately the party continues the same evening with the second launch gig. This time Queens’ Bar Sub will host the band, with support from Be Like Pablo, a Scottish band playing their first ever Irish show. Those eager for the new album can get a copy of ‘Rocky’ and a ticket for the show for £8, or £5 for a ticket only. Tickets are currently available from the band’s website.
