Aimée – ‘Crashing Down’

Aimée – ‘Crashing Down’

I haven’t watched Mamma Mia or Pineapple Dance Studios, so I am not quite qualified to judge if a song will do well at Eurovision. It seems to me you need to have some connection to former Soviet Bloc states to win the show, and ‘Eleanor Rigby’ would struggle to win it these days.  In any case ‘Crashing Down’ did not win the chance to represent Ireland at Eurovision, that honour has gone to Strabane man Ryan Dolan. That being so, it’s hard to know how this song will do commercially, even with the exposure it has had. Is this a good song? Well, it’s a slick, well-produced modern ballad and Aimée (Fitzpatrick) is a fine singer with a lovely fragility in her voice, but there is nothing really here to get your teeth into and nothing to set it apart from the myriad slick, well-produced modern ballads out there to make it a genuine challenger to the bigger hitters.

It was released on 10/02/13
