Summer is officially over. Queue the darker nights, trees shedding their leaves and talk of Christmas before Halloween has even passed. If that isn’t a rude awakening for you all then I don’t know what is. Fear not though we have a few things in the pipeline that will hopefully excite you, plus there’s a full week ahead of gigs to take your mind off the gloom.
Gifted: Droids – The Empire, Belfast – Thursday 4th September 2014
Gifted is back and while the online streaming may be off the agenda, the principle of great local bands remains. Headlined by the powerhouse of riffs that is Droids, the rest of the line-up is a much more mellow affair with Rory Nellis (full band) and Ricky McQuillan on supporting duties.
Admission is £3 on the door
Tokyo Empire – Alley Arts Centre, Strabane – Friday 5th September 2014
The bands from Strabane over the past 24 months have punched well above their weight and delivered some cracking tunes. Some bright spark has cottoned on to this and stuck all the big names on one bill. So if you want to see Tokyo Empire, Freak’s, White Males Actors and Those Ghosts all in one place, your dreams may have come true.
Tickets are £5 on the door
Sinocence – Limelight 2, Belfast – Saturday 6th September 2014
Sinocence have proved over the course of their incredible 13 year existence that they’re one of the best metal exports we have. The Distortion Project are throwing them a well deserved birthday party this weekend with support from Collapse, By Any Means, Cutter and Donum Dei.
Admission is £5 on the door
