Rob’s Gig Guide: 19th – 25th August 2013

Where has the summer gone? It is hard to believe that this is last gig guide of August and we will all be back to our usual routines. My advice don’t be depressed, there are plenty of amazing gigs taking place in NI this week (too many to mention here in fact) but here are three top notch events you shouldn’t miss.

Mo and the Tiger – Black Box – Wednesday 28th August 2013
Mo and The Tiger are celebrating the release of their long awaited debut album, ‘Ringing In Sympathy.’ Very much acoustically driven, it will be a perfect evening to chill and relax after a hectic festival season and the foreboding return to work/school/university.

Tickets are £5 on the door or available directly from the Black Box website.

Kowalski – The Windsor, Bangor – Saturday 31st August 2013
Local natives Kowalski close this year’s very successful Open House Festival. It will be a special night especially as they have just released their debut album ‘For the Love Of Letting Go.’ Support on the evening is also fairly impressive with Ed Zealous and Go Wolf lending a hand.

Tickets are £9 and are available directly from Open House Festival.

A Load of Aul’ Folk – Strand Arts Centre, Belfast – Sunday 1st August 2013
Part of the annual East Belfast Arts Festival is A Load of Aul’ Folk and the perfect closer to a long week. The line-up is sumptuous and features Master and Dog, Emerald Armada, Alana Henderson, Katie Richardson and Mike Donaghy, so plenty of bang for your buck.

Tickets are £8 on the door
