This week Team CB started to work on our plans for covering the local festivals, it’s going to be a busy summer. All the NI based festivals have announced their line-ups in various shapes and forms with some truly massive announcements. It seems that all the organisers are out to impress, particularly in the sad absence of Glasgowbury. Fret not though there are still a whole host of amazing gigs to warm us up for the summer spectacles ahead.
Hidden Machine #03: In An Instant – Voodoo, Belfast – Thursday 29th May April 2014
I doubt any of you will be surprised to see this one on my list. Our Kickstart 2014 winners launch their debut EP with a headline show in Voodoo. The guys are really ramping things up with the release of the EP, launch show and single video all in the same week. Expect some indie electro pop goodness from all three bands on the bill. The support on the evening comes from Affleck and C-Beams.
Admission is £5 on the door
R51 – Aether and Echo, Belfast – Friday 30th May 2014
Al Gilmore and I have been absolutely entranced by the shoe-gaze stylings of Belfast’s R51, so it’s another no-brainer for the gig guide. The band are launching their stonking new single ‘Slowhound’ with a headline show and they’ve managed to rope in the sumptuous Master & Dog as their support.
Tickets are £5 on the door
Robyn G Shiels – Black Box, Belfast – Saturday 31st May 2014
Robyn G Shiels is a man who sadly is very underated. A supremely talented singer songwriter, his lyrics often explore the darkest depths of human emotions but contain plenty to keep you coming back for more. This gig is an occasion to celebrate the release of his second album, The Blood of the Innocents. Support from Jonny Black.
Entry is £7.50.
