Conjuring Fate – Limelight – Saturday 1st July June 2023
To kick off, we say our goodbyes to almost two decades of defining hardcore metal from the North Coast, the head-banging Conjuring fate. They take the stage one last time for a momentous farewell show, emphasising their vigorous vocals and emphatic rhythms, expect nothing but an immense finale as they commemorate the end of an era.
Garrett Laurie & Niall McDowell – Sunflower – Tuesday 4th July 2023
Delve into the art of Northern Irish queer youth as Niall McDowell and Garett Laurie co-headline, both renowned for skilful poetic lyricism. McDowell, I would describe reminiscent of Bon Iver, with a country twist, a truly unique and enticing act. Laurie portrays a similar exploration of themes of gender and the queer experience, yet with strong pop hooks.
A.N.J.A – Voodoo – Thursday 6th July 2023
Upon the release of various hard hitting, forceful yet riveting singles, post-punk solo act A.N.J.A headlines voodoo alongside the reputable Tramp and promising rock newcomers Velvet Daggers. A.N.J.A’s meticulous blend of smooth vocals and unforgettable melodies reflect her confident attitude.
Incisor – Oh Yeah Music Centre – Friday 7th July 2023
Fresh punk four-piece Incisor are set for their first headline show, and I expect a night of moshing and impressive riffs, a classic teenage local show. A similar dynamic of spirited rock bands are set to support, Sunwise, Greirat and a personal favourite of mine, Sheela.
Stendhal Festival – Limavady – Thursday 6th – Saturday 8th July 2023
The long-awaited Stendhal makes its return to the picturesque Northern Irish countryside once again, and expectedly the line-up does not disappoint. From Thursday to Saturday, indulge in the musical culture of Northern Ireland and beyond. From reggae-rock of ‘The wailers’ to mellow Irish acoustic of ‘The Scratch’, as well as local favourites such as Joshua Burnside, Leo Miyagee and Chalk.
