Sunflowerfest is now well and truly entrenched in the calendar of all local music fans. Located at Tubby’s Farm in Hillsborough, the festival hosts a wealth of quality Northern Irish musicians and bands across three days. This year the festival takes place from Friday 5th – Sunday 7th August 2016.
For 2016, the organisers of Sunflowerfest have enlisted the services of Cavan’s young bluesrockers The Strypes along with Sunflower favourites King Kong Company. Also at the top end of the bill are Coco & the Butterfields and Le Galaxie. From a local point of view, Trucker Diablo, the Emerald Armada and Pocket Billiards are the shining lights.
While they may be in smaller print on the poster, the additions of The Bonnevilles, HOW, Jealous of the Birds, Nasa Assassin, R51 and the Late Twos certainly make the line-up formidable. We tend to focus on the music but Sunflowerfest also offers a holistic area with yoga, meditation and complementary therapies as well as spoken word, poetry and comedy from NI’s leading talents to name just a few.
