Recently back from a trek touring across various parts of Europe, Belfast singer-songwriter Owen McGarry has released the second single from his recent colab-EP ‘Stray’.
This time featuring the vocal talents of fellow Belfast native Conor Scott, ‘Soon’ is a much more moodier affair that the previous pop-wonder ‘Body of Sea’. Electronics twinkle and pulsate, while the drums crunch alongside a satisfying snap. McGarry’s vocals continue to impress, impeccably smooth with sultry bluesy undertones.
But before we go on let’s stop and talk about that sax solo! Bodacious as it is is saucy, it injects a mighty bit of sass that blends lusciously into the rest of the production.
The accompanying video sees McGarry playing the bad guy in a smash & grab abduction in a gritty black and white countryside (the video does have vibes of Hozier’s ‘Take Me To Church’.) Produced by Dog Kennel Productions the eagle eyed of you will will notice the appearance of LORIS’ Frances Mitchell doing her bit by infiltrating the perilous farmyard.
Catch Owen McGarry live at The Bar With No Name during Sound of Belfast Week on Friday 14th November alongside LORIS, Those Ghosts & Havana House Party.
