A certain Mr Tony Wright (aka. VerseChorusVerse) used to be in another band you know. That’s right, there was indeed a time when he was more well known for his axe wielding exploits rather than his acoustic driven romps.
With a crowd-funded album unleashed to the world last month, Tony’s solo venture has seen him tour the UK as well as secure a slot on the bill of Download Festival this summer. Belfast’s ginger-haired firecracker has done good in 2014. Which leads us to his latest single and undoubtedly the most poignant moment of his self-titled LP.
‘Three’ is a somber tail of exclusion. A track with probable hints to Tony’s past tangled amongst a dark undercurrent of strikingly emotive orchestral. It’s a murky mixing pot of tender vocals juxtaposed against harsh, crushing clangs.
The video follows suit in tone and in visual texture. Nior-esque in it’s setting, the video is sliced together into a gloomy mirage of tense imagery and unsettling tableaus.
You can grab yourself the VerseChorusVerse album right HERE, watch a live video of Tony and his band HERE, and incase you in the mood for some noir after all this, HERE is a trailer for modern twist on the formula which we recommend. That’s tonight sorted!
