Before I go into my suggestions for this week’s suggested gigs I just want to say a massive congratulations to the three winners of the Chordblossom Kickstart Competition for 2013. As we have said already but I feel it should be said again we were astounded by the quality of all 130 entries, it is great to see the local scene flourishing. Those Ghosts have a great sound and when you are all up at Glasgowbury this year be sure to check them out!
Transmit: David C Clements – Limelight 2 – Wednesday 17th April 2013
Touted at Northern Ireland’s equivalent to Bruce Springsteen, David C Clements certainly has a lot to live up to. When I last saw him in the Empire it was a sell-out so demand is likely to be very high. Keep an eye out for ‘Hurricane’ (listen below), it’s a real gem! Support comes from The Jepettos and our Kickstart competition runners up, Howl!
Tickets are available for £3 on the door!
Radar: Sons of Caliber – Speakeasy – Thursday 18th April 2013
This week’s edition of Radar has a delightfully folky vibe with the Sons of Caliber providing us with melodic songs that bristle with american influences from front man Andrew Farmer’s time in North Carolina. There is also support from the Emerald Armada and Joshua Burnside.
Entry is completely FREE!
Ryan Vail – Love & Death Inc – Saturday 20th April 2013
My last recommendation is for Ryan Vail’s Fade EP launch party in the intimate surroundings of Love & Death. Admission includes a copy of the Fade EP on 10″ LTD hand numbered White Vinyl , you will also be sent a digital copy of the full digital release on release date.
Tickets are £7 each but there are only 30 available!
