Rob’s Gig Guide: 19th – 25th August 2013

The joys of the internet mean that I have scheduled this post a week in advance. The reason you ask, well I’m off for some quick summer sun before a busy summer of festivals and pre-season training, not to mention the old day job too. But while I’m off enjoying myself, you can enjoy some lovely homegrown music on your doorstep.

Drop Your Guns – Oh Yeah Music Centre, Belfast – Tuesday 3rd June 2014

Relatively fresh off the block, Drop Your Guns are launching their debut EP ‘Hearts to Break and Plans to Make’ with a special headline show. Joined by Kickstart finalists Car Chase City, The Empires and Josh Cormican, this all ages show is bound to be a good’un.

Admission is £5 on the door

The Emerald Armada – Limelight, Belfast – Thursday 5th June 2014

Another EP launch, this time from the masters of Northern Irish folk, the Emerald Armada. The band are in a rich vein of songwriting form and I’m told they currently hold the record for most tickets purchased in advance for a local show, not bad going. Support comes from the hotly tipped Hurdles and singer songwriter DANI.

Tickets are £5 on the door

Echo Raptors – Menagerie, Belfast – Friday 6th May 2014

Narrowly missing out on a slot at the legendary Glastonbury festival, Echo Raptors have regrouped and put together another great single. ‘Change My Way’ was an indie anthem and they’ve done it again with Real Livewire’ which will be launched at this special show alongside the Couth and the Sun Shadows.

Entry is £5 on the door.

Spectrum Festival – Speakeasy, Belfast – Saturday 7th May 2014

I’ve already waxed lyrical about this event’s line-up here, but it needs to be re-iterated. A massive homecoming show for the lads from A Plastic Rose with a whose who of local talent on the bill too. When Mojo Fury are your support you know it’s a big one. The other supporting bands are Kasper Rosa, The New Ancestors, The Late Twos, Affleck, Hurdles and Go Swim.

Entry is £12 on the door or £10 for students.

Do you want some Free Publicity?
