CQAF: Hole – Live Through This – Oh Yeah Centre, Belfast – 2nd May 2024
Kicking off CQAF with a punch, Sister Ghost, Susi Pagel, Aqua Tofana and Monday’s Child channel their inner unbridled indignation as they commemorate 30 years of Hole’s groundbreaking yet timeless masterpiece ‘Live through this’ defined by it’s enticingly piercing vocals and brutal, uncensored lyricism.
Corella with Disorder – Limelight, Belfast – 3rd May 2024
Hitting the road upon the release of debut album ‘Once upon a weekend’, Manchester based four-piece Corella make a brief stop in Belfast amongst a number of UK cities. Described as “widescreen indie blessed with emphatic ambition”, they pair accordingly with locally treasured support Disorder who have just released sophomore single Millennial Dreaming, a distinctive ballad characterised through passionate vocals accompanied with catchy hooks.
CQAF: Conchúr White – Rosemary Street Church, Belfast – 5th May 2024
A singer-songwriter from County Armagh, Conchúr White navigates the dreamlike and the grounded with blissful fluency on his beautiful debut album Swirling Violets.
Released through Bella Union in January, Swirling Violets is allusive and intimate, unearthly yet instantly accessible: touching on fully felt themes with grace and lightness, its a richly imagined album of multitudes from an instinctive talent.
CQAF: Lemoncello – Ulster Sports Club, Belfast – 9th May 2024
Yet another CQAF event, Lemoncello is an anticipated highlight, not to miss out on. This duo brings a spirited and fresh take to traditional Irish folk through soothing melodies that could grasp a bustling room’s attention in a second. Sprinkled with humour and wit, this combination is set for success.
Old Crows Promotions: SX-70 with Bannered Mare and Madams Last Discovery – Oh Yeah Centre, Belfast – 11th May 2024
Brought to the stage by the flourishing Old Crows Promotions, chilled out Mac Demarco -esque indie trio SX-70 are set to headline, showcasing their progressing sound alongside West Ireland based rock newcomers Bannered Mare, making their eager return to Belfast. Not to mention vastly growing Madams Last Discovery, Oh Yeah favourites combining psychedelic rock with modern post-punk influences making for a striking sound.
Arborist – Court House, Bangor – 12th May 2024
Belfast-based Mark McCambridge aka Arborist makes a return to the Court House in May. His album ‘An Endless Sequence of Dead Zeros’ won the prestigious Northern Ireland Music Prize last year. Uncut magazine called it “a staggering debut of depth and substance”.
