Very welcome news this morning that SOAK‘s debut album ‘Before We Forgot How To Dream‘ has been nominated for the Mercury Prize 2015.
The annual music prize is designed to highlight the best album released from an artist or band from the United Kingdom and Ireland. It is quite an achievement to make the shortlist as it is decided by an independent panel of musicians, music presenters, music producers, music journalists, festival organisers and other figures in the music industry.
Should SOAK go on an win the illustrious prize she would be in esteemed company as previous winners include Primal Scream, Suede, PJ Harvey, Elbow and the xx. Earlier in 2015 our Sophia Devlin reviewed the album and said:
“Before We Forgot How To Dream is an album that both meets and defies any expectations that you might have, and firmly cements SOAK’s status as one of the brightest talents that the world has yet to see.”
